Daryl worked up the field this morning and was watching the weather pretty close. He wanted to see if he could get some of the fields planted with soybeans this weekend and if it rained too much it wouldn’t work.
It did sprinkle on him a couple of times, but he was able to get done with what he wanted. I’m not really sure what that was, but he was happy and so that was a good thing. I know that they always say ‘If Mom’s happy then everyone is a happy’ But in the spring and fall around our neck of the woods they should be saying ‘If the farmer is happy then everyone is happy’.
So while he was working on that, I wanted to keep working on the plants in the greenhouse. They need to be transplanted from their first pots into individual pots. And instead of being overwhelmed and doing it all at once, I’m trying to do some every day. William checked them out and he thought that in the past years we’ve even had more tomato plants than what we have this year. I have no idea, but with everyone starting to plant their gardens, my tomato plants won’t be ready when they’ll need them and I’m not sure what I’ll do with them then! I’m just hoping that they’ll grow a lot in the next two weeks and then I should be fine. Since I had this gardening thing going on today, we’ve been talking about getting a new tiller for the garden. We have one now, but you think that these past couple of years we could get it started? No. So I’m junking that one out and today I’m going to town to buy a new one. We’ve been reading the reviews on the electric ones, so after talking about it for now a couple of weeks – I bought one.The guy who helped me in the store said that I have a 30 day return policy on it if I don’t like it. Humm, I’m thinking that I’m going to know pretty much in less than 30 days if I like it or not. I’m thinking that all I’ll need is one hour and that’ll be enough for me. While I was in town I also did some coupon shopping. I’m trying to get back to using them because you can really save a lot of money if you just take the time to get them organized. I know that I’ll never be as good as the people on TV who are the experts, but today I could kind of hold my own. I saved $55.47 or 43% of my bill. Score!
And for tonight? Well we’re going out to some Graduation parties. It’s the first ones that we’re invited to this year and I’m looking forward to it. I’ve made up a couple of cards earlier, but I also made a new one.
The photo of the day is one of the sunflower plants that was started in the greenhouse. I liked the photo because the seed was still on the plant. It pushes through the dirt to protect the plant and to give it food until it gets to the top of the dirt. It’s the dark piece on the right side leaf.
