They always say, ‘If you don’t like the weather in Iowa, wait a couple of hours and it’ll change’. Well, that’s what’s happening. If you saw the picture of our backyard that I took a couple of days ago, you know that it snowed in May. I even heard that not too far away from us, people were snowmobiling. Now that’s just crazy! But last night it rained most of all the night, and by this morning, pretty much all the snow was gone. I’m not sure when the rain gauge was emptied last, but I dumped out around 2 1/2 inches of rain out of it this morning. The bad part of all this is that when we picked rock the other day and put it by the ditch where the water was washing away the dirt, last night the water went around those rock and washed away a new spot in the field. It looks like we’ll need to get back out and pick up even more rock. Daryl and I were talking about last year, and he thought that he had the crops planted by the first week of May. Hopefully we’ll get some sunshine, and then the farmers will get in the fields, and everyone will feel much better.
For some reason with all the snow we had, it really made the grass turn green. And not just a little green, but really noticeably green. I snapped a quick picture to show that maybe spring is actually not too far away.
