My little seeds are doing pretty good in the house so far. I was thinking that this window in the parlor would work, but it was one of those things that you just didn’t know for sure until you tried it. I’m thinking that next week I’m going to move them to the greenhouse and transplant these plants into separate containers. that way I can have room to start even more plants. Transplanting them is kind of a big job though, but if I don’t have to transplant the onions, it won’t be all that bad. Now I’ve never put in the field crops before, but I kind of got a taste on how the farmers act when they see someone is in the field in the neighborhood before them. How I think I know how these farmers feel? Well there is someone that I know that planted his onions outside in his garden and they are about a couple of inches up already. WHAT? Our garden still has snow on top of it. I asked him how he worked up the garden and he said that he used his tiller. OK, now I have to admit that I was just a little bit jealous when he was talking. Then after a week went by, he said that he got his potatoes in. He had to use a hoe this time because the ground was a little wetter, but he was able to get them planted. The unofficial rule is that you should plant your potatoes on Good Friday. Now normally this wouldn’t be such a big deal, but with the late spring that we’re having, I would have thought it would have been next to impossible. So when I was getting even more jealous that this guy was so far ahead of anyone else with his garden, I thought to myself that I probably wouldn’t want to have to be responsible for anything bigger than a garden. I might be just a little bit too competitive with field crops and would be the first one in the section with the tractor stuck!
Check out how my seeds are growing though. Not bad, not bad at all.
