Tax time

Well it’s that time of the year again – tax time. And for us, our appointment was for tonight.  For me going to have your taxes done is a lot like going to confession. You know that there were some things that you should have done better and when you’re there face to face with your tax person, you promise that next year you will be better. You just hope that even with the higher prices of corn this past year that the farmers saw that you will come out OK. Now you’re not asking for a miracle, you just don’t want to have a heart attack when you’re in the office. So this year was the same. We didn’t know how it was going to go with me not working most of the year,but with higher corn prices it was pretty much anyone’s game.  Most farmers always have the same tax person doing their taxes and this person knows just about everything about you and your business. So we sat nervously in front of our tax person tonight waiting to hear what the outcome was going to be. And the outcome? Not so bad. Now granted we’ll never have this wonderful tax appointment that some people might have, but we also didn’t have any heart attack either while we were there. So all in all, not so bad. Whew!
