Kool-Aid

I went to the second hand store a while back and picked up what I thought was a fun gift for my nephew’s girls. It was a Kool-Aid pitcher and 5 matching cups. I thought it was kind of fun and when I brought it home, it sounded like this was something that our family just had to have! So into our cupboard it went. Since it’s been years (and years) that the last time we made Kool-Aid, William picked up a couple of packets when he was in town the other day. This morning I was making some blue kind, and isn’t it funny how you can remember a smell? Just when I opened up the packet, you knew that it was Kool-Aid and it instantly brought a smile to my face. I guess they had it right when they were trying to figure out what their logo should be. After it was mixed, I put it into the refrigerator for the guys to try later today. I saw a glass sitting on the shelf in the fridge that was half frozen, and when I asked Daryl about it, he didn’t hesitate and said that it was absolutely delicious. He told the story that when he was a kid, they had these tin cups that they would fill with Kool-Aid and put a spoon in it. Then they would freeze it, and he said that it was really good. So about this time William had come home from picking rock and said that he knew that it was freezing in the fridge for some reason, but it was sooooooo good when it was froze. Now, I’m not sure if it’s because we haven’t had Kool-Aid for so long, or if it was because there’s a cup of sugar in this small container – but I am thinking that keeping this little red pitcher and the 5 small cups was probably a really good decision.

'Hey Kool-Aid Man!"

I had moved the couches around in the Roadhouse this afternoon, and now I’m happy how it’s all starting to look. You know that I’ve gone to the second hand store tons lately dropping stuff off, but that didn’t stop me from still finding treasures in our house. I took out a large area rug, an end table, another small table, a cart, microwave, and then a lamp that was being stored. (OK, maybe I need to keep giving donations to the second hand store!) We also got the bench put up on the wall and I LOVE it! I started to look through pictures and this is where the momentum slowed down and pretty much stopped for the day. It was fun to see all the old pictures that Daryl’s Mom and Dad had, and I was having a hard time trying to figure out which ones that I want to get copies of for a wall decoration that I’m doing. I did pick out some and we’ll go with those for now.

I also powdered my poor cabbage and pepper plants. I’m not sure who is eating the leaves, but with that crappy powder on it, I sure hope it stops. The weather is supposed to cool down and maybe even rain tomorrow. Everyone is needing the rain because the crops are all starting to show how really dry it is. I just don’t want the rain to come with a storm though.

i remember those aluminum glasses very well! my grandma had a set, and i think she said they came in a box of laundry soap as a promotion. they were the best glasses to drink out of because they got very cold.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen one before. I’ll have to keep my eyes open to see if I can find one… or two.
