Oliver Tractors

Daryl and I always try to go to Charles City on Labor Day weekend to see the antique farm equipment and swap meet. It’s sponsored by the Cedar Valley Engine Club. Daryl especially wanted to go this year because they were featuring Oliver Tractors. Now I’m an International tractor kind of girl (red tractors) but Daryl grew up with the green Olivers.  After church we worked outside for awhile and Daryl finally had a chance to hang up the barn sign. I didn’t get a chance to take a picture of it yet but I’ll try to do that tomorrow. When we went to Charles City we were wondering how the rain was going to effect the day. By the time we got to Heritage Park where the tractors were, we noticed that the cars were all parking on the side roads. What happened was that they had got so much rain these past few days that the hay field that everyone parks in was solid mud. But once we walked into the park we didn’t think it was too bad and didn’t mind it at all. Even with the Oliver tractors being featured this year, Daryl also had another mission. He was looking for a certain tractor part that he needed for his tractor. Even though we found a lot of other tractor parts, we couldn’t find the one that we needed. But the day wasn’t a complete loss, I was able to find somethings that I just needed to have. My purchases were: 2 barn pulleys (which I have no idea where I’m going to use them yet), a Johnny Cash album – Volume 1 Greatest Hits, and a Birthday gift for some lucky person in my family. I’m pretty sure that Daryl would have wanted to get his tractor part that he was looking for, but I was thinking that I found some pretty good buys.
