You’ve heard of road rage before but have you ever heard of someone having coupon rage? Well now you have because I think I have it. I needed to go to town yesterday and since I was driving 30 miles, I thought I’d get some supplies. So I spent a good part of the morning going through all the papers and my coupons to see what deals there was out there this week and got my list ready. I was super organized and felt pretty good about the trip. You know that I use coupons all the time and this week there was some good deals at a competitor and I knew that the discount store that I was going to honors other adds. I had no trouble the last time, and wasn’t expecting any trouble this time. Well, my trip didn’t turn out so good. I spent about 45 minutes to an hour finding all the deals in the store and kept it separate in my cart. Next step was to scope out the check out clerks. I found one that I thought I wouldn’t have any trouble with and started to unload my cart. The first thing that I gave her was a Buy one and get one 50% off from another store add. I also had two coupons for these items. She said that she could take the coupons but not the % off. What? I tried to look nice and said that I’ve done this before here and didn’t have any trouble. She said that she had worked there for a very long time and they don’t honor those adds. I was still working on trying to stay nice and asked if I could speak to her supervisor. Her supervisor came over and said, Nooooooo, Noooooo we don’t do this. I again said that I haven’t had any trouble in the past with this and she again said, Noooooo that it’s just not going to work. I then asked if I could ask someone else and she said ‘Read the Sign’ no % ‘s off. There is a sign by my head at the checkout lane. Well I didn’t read the sign because if she quoted it, I was pretty sure that she was right. OK, I was having trouble not getting super mad. So I tried to smile at her I said that I’ll just shop at that other store the next time. I was smiling at her because I really didn’t want to get mad over this because it truly is something stupid to get mad at and then I was thinking how I was smiling, mouth open just a little bit and not really moving my head much. I think it might have been kind of scary if you saw it – so I quit trying to smile and just stood there as she checked out the rest of the stuff. I didn’t buy any of the ‘super sales’ that I had worked so hard to get and asked them to take them because I wasn’t interested at all. Now they were really nice and I looked it up today on the web and she was right – they don’t honor certain deals. But when I left there I was so stressed I thought to myself … Oh yea! Well then I’m going to go and get a really big malt or something. Yea that’s what I’m going to do. So after I drove a little bit and thought about it, I thought I really shouldn’t be eating that and especially just because I was mad at myself – so I got some snow peas that I bought from the back of the car and ate the whole bag before I left town. Now it wasn’t as satisfying as the malt, but I ate the whole bag! I was still thinking about the shopping trip and that I didn’t know the policy and wasted a very large part of my day on this, so when I got home I made a pizza. While it was cooking I ate a huge slice of a brownie (Kyle’s Bday cake) , finished off some turtle candy, ate milk duds, finished off the salsa with chips and opened another jar, and then ate half of the pizza after it was cooked. Next time I think I’m going to be better off just going for the ice cream!
Update on painting – I had a really good day today and was able to get the west side of the machine shed done and also the cattle shed done in red. I was able to paint around 6 gallons today and tomorrow I’ll paint with white and those two sides will be completed. Daryl didn’t get home until after 8:30 tonight from work so maybe I’ll get the barn sign hung up tomorrow…. ?
Little Kitty is still hanging out around our house and I thought that I might have hurt her by accident tonight. I was looking outside and forgot she was out there and when I went to shut the french doors off the living room I heard a terrible meow! When I looked down, there she was kind of laying on her side and making a funny noise. It turned out that I shut the door on her and squished her. Good grief! So then William and I thought that maybe just her leg was hurt because after I held her for awhile and put her down she couldn’t walk very good. So I thought that eating would make her feel better (obviously this is what I do!) so she came in for cheesy potatoes, ham, and milk, she seemed just fine. Now in my defense – you have never in your life seen any kitty that can run as fast as that kitty. Well OK maybe not tonight after the door episode, but on any other day she can really run fast!
HA! I can just see your face at the checkout!!!! p.s.–the food thing–on the way back from the wedding this weekend, I ate a whole box of milk duds (that big box kind that you buy at a movie theatre). When I was done, I noticed 2 of them sticking to the inside of the box, so driving along down the road, I managed to tear open the box, just to get to those 2 stuck milk duds. good grief
I try to buy the milk duds for Daryl but for some reason I seem to end up eating most of them!
So, kitty survives another squashing!? That is one tough kitty! 🙂
She is tough but maybe a slow learner?
How many lives is Lucky down to, now? 🙂
Oh, I can so relate to the stress/emotional eating! When I do it, I end up feeling so bad, but once I start, I have no self control. ugh.
Well Bonnie…I am guessing it was WalMart. Been there and done that. The food part too….I also looked it up and complained about it on line. Fareway accepts all Quillins ads with no questions EVER. I gave up on WalMart for groceries. Do you ever buy groceries down at the Amish at the dented can store?
You guessed right Jo it was Walmart! I have been to the Amish to the dented can store and have found a lot of good deals especially on paper products. Really like the store but don’t get there as often as I would like to.
