Time to buckle down

July has always been a busy time for us and this year has held up the same as the past. But now that Ragbrai and Cub Lake is over, I need to get somethings done before the good weather is gone. The weather has turned a little colder and it’s making me nervous. So last night I put together an aggressive list of what I need to do this week and even though I’m not sure I’ll be able to get it all accomplished, at least I’m going to give it a try.
Today I finished up the porch. I had to touch up the paint that came off when we power washed it and painted another part of it. I also had to resew the cushion that the dog ate when we were gone, and was brave enough to put them back on the patio furniture. We’ll see how long it lasts. Daryl worked on the next door for the barn and it really went up much faster after he got the first one built awhile ago. I’m not planning on painting with red paint until Wednesday so it’s good timing that he got that done.

William noticed that even though it has been raining off and on, there was water sitting where there shouldn’t be. So Daryl is going to call someone to take a look at our water pipes to see if one is busted. I’m not sure how much of a mess or how much that’s going to cost but it’s something that needs to be done.

Looks like trouble

We’ve been talking about the area that the old hog barn was on. We’re not sure what we’re going to put there yet, but the patio blocks are on sale now for two weeks so we’ll have to figure it out soon in order to get in on the sale. I don’t think we’re planning on anything fancy so it shouldn’t be that hard. Daryl went and got an old field cultivator that he had stored.  What they have used it for was when you cultivated corn this was on the back of the tractor to cover up your tire tracks. That way the dirt would be more even in the field. He said he hasn’t used it for over 25 years – but it sure came in handy tonight.
