The garden

I know that I probably shouldn’t do it, but I think I’m going to give up on the garden. It’s not just bad… it’s really bad! At first I was trying to weigh out my options, should I pull the weeds? But the ground is so dry that I think this would almost be an impossible task. So then I thought that maybe I should get myself a couple of containers of Round Up and just go in and kill everything. But I’m not so sure that this is the best idea either. The only things that I can see that might produce are the kohlrabi’s and ‘maybe’ some of the cherry tomatoes. I have enough salsa and spaghetti canned from last year so I’m not too upset about the tomatoes, but I’d sure hoping that the cherry tomatoes come around. I picked a couple (6) the other night and there’s about another 10 out there ready to go. But the one thing that has grown is the kohlrabi’s and it’s so weird that they are all different sizes. So it’ll give me a chance to pick them for the next couple of weeks and they shouldn’t get too overripe at all.  IMG_0593

I also made friends with the cows again tonight. I picked a couple of apples and they sure remembered how much they liked them from last year! But No Ears isn’t so good about sharing and pushes the other cows away so she gets all of them. It’s just the beginning of the apple season, so there’s still time for them to learn to sneak around her and get their own!

Daryl and I went out driving the other day trying to find our next new car and we saw this sign when we stopped for dinner. Just too funny! And inside the Dog Wash there’s stations that you literally wash your dog. Now I don’t know how often this gets used, but it sure caught our eye.
