So Lent is here and is in full swing. I thought and thought what I should give up for the 40 days and I came up with the idea of giving up meat. That sounded like it shouldn’t be so terribly hard and yup – that’s what I was going to do. But as I was thinking about what I can and can’t eat now, I was just finishing up with my turkey roll sandwich. OK, so maybe I should give just give up beef. Since I already blew the meat idea, I could just say that I won’t eat beef. Now I had all good intentions of doing this, but when we got home late Friday night, I made a 4 meat pizza. I figured it wasn’t Friday anymore so I didn’t have to worry about eating meat on Friday, but then I blew the no beef idea. It probably wasn’t the best idea do give up beef anyway, because we had tickets for a local fundraiser for the library and I ate this huge hunk of prime rib. So back to the drawing board I go. I came up with some other thoughts – Diet Coke (NOT a good idea!), Beer (also not a good idea) then finally my next idea is to give up having anything but a salad for supper. I’m not sure if this is in the rule book, but that’s what I’m going to do. Well, anyway.. try to do.
I was driving around doing some errands on Saturday afternoon, and all of a sudden I saw all these birds in this one field. I wasn’t sure what kind of birds they were, and I was thinking that they were turkeys, How cool would that be? So I turned the car into the field and started to walk towards them to see if I could get a good picture and find out if they were turkeys or not.
As I got closer, the birds got scared and then they all started to run away. I knew that I didn’t have the best picture, so I’m walking through the field and the birds kept running the opposite direction and started to fly. Finally I took a couple of pictures and headed back to the car. But as I’m walking back to the car, I could see that the neighbor was just pulling in his driveway across the road and I’m betting he was wondering just what in the heck I was doing walking around trying to get a picture.. And for the birds? They weren’t turkeys… but turkey vultures! Yuck!!
