William’s birthday was last Friday and so on Sunday we went down to visit him at his college to take him out for dinner. It’s just crazy to think that he’s 19 already! It’s one of those things that you think you’re kids are still little, but then when you get a look at them you realize that they are really getting to be all grown up. I sent a birthday box earlier in the week in the mail filled with food, local newspapers, and a Rice Krispie birthday cake to him. He said that it didn’t take long to have all of the food gone, which is good. When we were in his dorm room on Sunday I should have taken a picture of it. There is no way that anything else could fit in there. But after dinner, we went looking around at some local businesses to see if we could find a cart to put his huge speaker on. For his birthday he said that he’d like a cart for the speaker that he has in his room. It’s so big and heavy that it’s hard to carry around. Now I’m not sure why he has to carry around this huge speaker, but some times parents shouldn’t know everything right? Finally after a couple of stops in some stores, we did find a cart that would work and back to his dorm we went. Now I was thinking that nothing else could fit in the room but I guess I was wrong. In went this cart for his speaker. And guess what? It fit.
We haven’t had a chance to talk with Kyle lately because he’s been so busy with school and the musical that he’s performing in. We’ve just been waiting for things to calm down a little bit for him, and then give him a call. We’re thinking that with both school and the performances, if he isn’t busy -he’s probably working on catching up with his sleep. But hopefully we’ll be able to talk later this week. Since we weren’t able to go and visit him this past week for the musical, we’re hoping that we can set up some travel plans in the Spring to visit. We decided to wait until the spring because when they get snow on the East Coast they don’t mess around. The last time it snowed, Kyle didn’t have a couple of inches of snow on his car – he had a couple of feet of snow on his car! So if we do get a chance to head out there, I’m thinking that we really don’t want to travel until the spring. Thank goodness for skype!
