Confusing, Turning the furnace on and mowing lawn

It has been cold in the house lately, and in our house that isn’t that uncommon in the fall. Why? Well we usually have kind of a contest to see how long we can go without turning on the furnace. We’ve usually made it until late November, early December in the past.  But the house was around 58 degrees tonight after work, and I just thought that this is silly to have it that cold. So I turned the furnace on, and I must say that it has been very nice.

But then it gets confusing. The reason that I’m saying that is because after I turned on the furnace, I went outside to mow the lawn. Crazy! It’s almost November and I’m mowing the lawn! But we haven’t mowed it for some time now, and it really needed to be ‘cleaned’ up. When I was mowing, all I could think of was that I wish I would have grabbed some gloves because I was freezing! I had on two sweatshirts and sweatpants, but the wind was so cold. I did get most of what I was thinking that I wanted to mow done, and if I get some time tomorrow, I can more more. I started out that I was just going to use the push mower after work to do some trimming, but Daryl drained the gas for the winter. So as long as I had the rider out, I might as well mow most of the lawn.

When I got done mowing for the night, I brought supper out for Daryl in the field. He was disking and everything was going good for him. No more tire issues, for us anyway for this week. After talking to others, it sounds like we weren’t along with having to buy or fix farm tires this year. Daryl did get done with the field work tonight, and when I was thinking that we might have some free time to do something fun – he started talking about moving bales and hauling manure……

Daryl stopping tonight for supper

I also had a chance to talk with Kyle while I was waiting for Daryl in the field. I sure like it that he has a cell phone that works. Anyone who complains about cell phones or using the internet to skype with others, must not have kids who live further away.  He’s living on the east coast and so far the weather isn’t too bad where he is. He lost electricity last night with the storm coming in, but the electricity wasn’t off for too long. Hopefully he won’t get caught up too much in the terrible storm that they are having. Anxious to talk to him later tonight on skype to find out more.
