Free at last!

I’ve been debating on letting the chickens out of the chicken coop for some time now, and tonight was the night that they got out. Now some of these chickens have ever been able to run around outside and go wherever they’ve wanted to before, so they were just a little bit shy when I opened the door. I was most worried about Martha, the female pheasant, but she didn’t want to go out at all tonight. Most of the rest of the chickens did venture outside for awhile and they sure seemed like they liked it. I got a kick out of the peacocks when they saw the chickens running around. The peacocks just literally stopped in the yard and looked at what was going on. Just way too funny! But when it started to get dark, most of them went back in and Daryl tried to chase a couple of the roosters to get them also back into the coop. We’re not sure if they actually went in or not, but if not it shouldn’t be such a big deal. It’ll be interesting to see how many eggs we’ll get by tomorrow. Anytime that I change their routine it seems to change how many eggs we can get.

The chickens were having a good time tonight

Other things going on was that Daryl had to work on the chopper tonight. He was chopping stalks the other day and had some trouble. So tonight he took parts off of it and is going to get some replacement parts tomorrow. Anyway that’s his plan and he’s hoping that they’ll have the parts that he’ll need.  I’m not sure how much he has left to chop, but it can’t be too much left.
