Daryl has started fixing up the milk barn today and is really making good progress. Now it’s my turn to start! It’s going to be the biggest project of all of them and we decided that it’s the most needed to be painted. So next week I’m going to get out the extension ladder and the red paint and start at it. At least this time we don’t have a mean bull. The last time that I painted the barn, we had a mean bull that absolutely HATED me! When I walked through the yard he would see me and just start the snort. So the last time I painted I didn’t lock the cows off the cattle floor, and when I painted they would walk around me. Well everybody but one! The bull would push on my ladder when I had it full extended. Then it would scrape along the building as it was tipping and would catch on something before I fell. After the second time of that – they got locked up away from me!
I really wasn’t very successful outside today. I tried to do some trimming with the push lawnmower but the last time I used it I ran it out of gas and I couldn’t get that old thing started today to save my soul. Of course with the temperature being around 98 degrees today and not being able to pull start it, I gave up real fast. Then I got out the ladder and was going to do some white painting. But lost interest real fast in that. So you can tell that my ambition level was pretty low today. I ended up working on some wedding pictures that I shot last weekend. It took pretty much my afternoon and I was happy to give them to the family so they can check them out. I sure hope they are OK and they like them! This was the first wedding that anyone asked me to take pictures at.
I started to water the garden and the flowers today. With the temperature being so warm these past couple of days and so windy, everything is really drying out fast. I watered them for over an hour this morning and tonight. I’ll probably water them again tomorrow morning. I checked out the raspberries tonight and they are looking really good! I’m anxious to make some raspberry jelly with them. My strawberry jam worked out well and I’m ready to make some other kinds.
Today was the last day for William picking rock this season. When he came home, he was covered in black dirt from head to toe from the wind. He took a quick shower and got cleaned up so he can start the long weekend with friends.
