Couple of gallons of paint, over 90 degrees, and Project # 4 complete

Even though it was hot today – I ended up getting two coats of paint on the old milk house. When I paint white it goes a lot faster because the wood isn’t soaking up the paint as much as the red is. I am not sure how I want to decorate the building,  but I put together something tonight to get a start on it. I laugh when I think of how Daryl’s dad would act if he knew that I spent hours on the internet and looking in stores to see what I could find for the building. I think he would just shake his head while he walked away. I always got the feeling that he thought I had some crazy ideas sometimes.  I ended up finding the colorful metal plaque in our local hardware store. Isn’t that funny. You can look all over the world and end up getting it from a store less than 8 miles from your home. When we were looking at their catalogs in this store, the lady who owns it said she took something home from the store but hasn’t hung it up yet. She said for me to wait and she would run home to bring it back. Then she also sent along 2 other pieces with me and I didn’t pay for anything. She said – just bring back what you don’t want and then we’ll settle up. When I think of this , I think how people in larger cities couldn’t comprehend something like this. That someone who owns a business, goes to their house to get something that they like for their home and brings it back for you to try. Then just sends it home with you without paying and it’s no big deal. It sure makes you appreciate being in a smaller community and living in Iowa.
