I was outside tonight and saw a cold front moving in for the night. Now normally you don’t see it physically moving into the area, so I ran and got my camera to try to catch how cold it looked. It’s supposed to get down into the 20’s tonight, and I’m guessing that fall is really here and winter isn’t too far away. It’s funny because you know it’s coming, and you get the signs that it’s coming, but you still keep watching for more signs.. you know, just to make sure. I’m thinking that we are officially into fall and I better get my fall & winter clothes out and into the closet. I’m pretty sure that I won’t be wearing tank tops much in the near future.
Now that Daryl has his corn and beans out of the fields, he’s been working on chopping corn stalks in the field for some bedding for the cows. I’m not sure what was wrong with the flail chopper the other day, but whatever he was doing he got it fixed pretty fast and was out working in the fields again. I know that he’s not done with the chopping because he had to stop with the crazy wind that we’ve been having lately. But he shouldn’t have too much left to do, and the wind should die down one of these days.
Then when I was outside a little bit later tonight, I’ve never seen such a bright sunset in my life. Normally this time of the year the fields look pretty grim and almost sad, but tonight they were lit up like someone had almost colored them. They were so cool. Again, off to get my camera I went. Isn’t it crazy how fast the weather can change? There’s a saying that I’ve heard a couple of times before -‘If you don’t like the weather in Iowa, just wait a little bit and it’ll change to something else.’ And looking at the weather tonight, there couldn’t have been a more true saying.
