Well we almost got everything done that I wanted to yesterday. The garden got weeded which was a good thing and probably the most important thing. I would be embarrassed to say how many weeds we got out of there, so you’ll just have to guess. I have a package of radishes that I would like to get planted and I still have those poor tomatoes in the greenhouse to find homes for. I know that I said this before – but why is it so hard to just throw those things away? It’s not like you have millions of dollars invested into it!
William continued to work on the farrowing house. He scooped out the gutter and was a trooper about it. He said it wasn’t a big deal and there wasn’t that much in it. We haven’t used the farrowing house for at least 15 years. Daryl bought a new shovel for this project and we were trying to figure out why it fit just perfect into the gutter. He said that sometimes farmers didn’t have a chain in their gutters and everyday you had to scoop the gutter out by hand. So this shovel is called a barn shovel. William did get one big bucket full and then the skid loader bucket full of stuff out. The manure spreader is in the middle of the yard so he just put it in there. I haven’t thought about the manure spreader in the middle of the yard until now. Daryl moved it there until the gutter gets cleaned out. The ‘stuff’ in the gutter was so old that it didn’t smell, but maybe we should still move the manure spreader now.
William also worked on cutting the metal from the outside of the gutter. He was able to get it as far as it could go and then the metal headed over to his junk pile. He still is collecting metal to take back to the junk man for cash. He’s getting quite a pile. Daryl had the wagon weighed yesterday in town so now William can start loading the metal junk on it.
As for me – I continued to paint. I did get all the red painting done on the granary and today I get to start with white for a few days. First I need to go to town and buy more paint. I think I might get 10 more gallons. I know for sure that I’ll use 5, so that’s the reasoning for 10. Nothing logical – just 100% guessing.
I didn’t get the jam made yesterday, but I did get them cleaned. So it won’t take much to have some fresh jam made. It always make the house smell so good!
