Last week Daryl was still checking out who had combine heads that would for us. Since I didn’t get that one at the auction, he had to keep looking until he found one. There was a dealer that was about 45 minutes from here and after Daryl checked out what they had to sell, they agreed on a price on one of them. But now how were we going to get it home? Since we didn’t have a trailer to move it home with and didn’t see any for sale, Daryl asked my brothers if we could use their truck and trailer to bring it home. They said that we could and off we went to bring it home. After we knew for sure that it was tied down good, back to Lawler we went.
After stopping at an implement dealer to see if they had something that we could use, we decided that we should be able to figure something out. We thought that we’d try the ditch and see if that would lower the head down enough for the combine to hook onto it. After Daryl backed it into the ditch, and with a little adjusting… it worked!
We laughed because the road was pretty quiet at first, and then maybe it was just coincidence, but it got a little busier as we were working on our operation. But now that’s done, it’s one more thing to check off the list.
what’s that they say, necessity is the mother of invention? haha. when we have to transport one of the motorcycles, it usually ends up in the back of my husband’s truck. that’s after he backs up into the ditch so it can be pushed on to the bed of the truck!
