Where does the time go? It seems like you look forward to something and then in a blink of an eye .. it’s over. That’s usually what happens when us girls do our yearly ‘fishing trip’ up north. We call it a fishing trip because when we used to say that a group of girls were going up north to spend some time at the lake, it seemed we would get this look like oh yea? But then we decided that guys say that they go away for a couple of days fishing or hunting and no one seems to say too much. So if it worked for them, we started to use this saying also. And you know what? It worked. Now to our defense, we did go fishing maybe a couple of times in the 30 years that we have been going, but that fishing stuff is so over rated. 🙂 So once again this year I took my camera (of course) and it’s just so hard to really capture how beautiful this area is.
The cabin is on a lake, they own a couple of hundred acres around it, and this is the only cabin on the lake. My friends Grandfather built it, and the rest of the area is in the National Forest. Â I think of all the pictures that I took, the one with the fog just rolling off the lake is probably my favorite.
The reason I like this one so much is because I took it one morning when I couldn’t sleep and when I was walking to take the picture, the loons on the lake were just calling to each other and you would hear the morning dew dropping off the trees. It was just beautiful. We didn’t have the hot weather that we’ve been having for the past two months and at night it even got a little chilly. To take some of the chill out of the cabin, we started the fireplace and that seemed to work well. The cabin doesn’t have any electricity or running water, so when made breakfast in the morning the old cook stove also heated up the cabin.
Finally on Saturday the weather was nice enough for us to put on our swimming suits and head out on the lake. We did miss the minnow racing that was being held in one of the local bars in town that afternoon, but the time on the lake was perfect. Not too hot and not too cold.
And it seems like in just a blink of an eye that it’s over again. I just can’t believe it. So now we are getting really serious about what William will be needing for college and if Kyle needs anything for his schooling. Come to think of it, the years of them growing up also went by in a blink of an eye. Â I will not get sad – I will not get sad…..
Your pictures are absolutely beautiful!
I don’t think I’m a very good photographer. I can always see how I should have done something different with each picture.
