Fifty Shades of Grey. Now just the title of this book may bring a smile to your face if you are a girl, and maybe a smile to your face if you are a guy – just depending if your significant other is reading it. For me? I’ve never claimed to be a big fan of reading. It sounds kind of bad – but I’m a ‘picture’ kind of girl. NOT what you are thinking. I’d rather look at things in a picture than spend the time reading about it. I think reading just takes too long and I’m way too impatient. And I think that’s why I’ve never been one to spend an afternoon just sitting and reading a good book. Well…. until now. I’ve heard all the hype about this book, and with everything settling down at our farm, I thought I’d give it a whirl. At first, the book wasn’t at all what I was hoping for. It was kind of boring. I talked to a friend and she said to read to about half of the first book and then it’ll start to get your attention. Yup, she was right. I find myself now picking it up and spending time reading it during the day which I think is so unreal. So I was thinking about this the other day and I came up with the conclusion that it’s really about women taking a more aggressive role in this whole thing. As an example: I was in town the other day and was talking to someone about the book. The conversation soon went to discussing different parts of the book and very descriptively I might add. Before I wouldn’t have dreamed that I would be listening to what she was hoping for in her relationship after she read the book, but now it seems like anything is game. There are things being shared that you for sure won’t share with anyone else, and it kind of makes you go.. huh. And the conversations are only meant to be between girls with no guys in sight. So for me, I’m almost done with the first book and will have to get copies of the second and third book to read. And for Daryl? He’s got a smile on his face.
I read all -3- in a weekend!!
