It’s a gift

I think everyone is given a gift, and these past few days I’ve found mine. My ‘gift’, if you can  call it that – is to instantly sweat when I walk outside. Yea… I didn’t say it was a good gift did I? I can just walk across the yard and you would swear that I’ve just ran about 10 miles. My face gets beat red and I’ve got sweat running down my forehead. Both Daryl and I were outside, and Daryl had jeans on with a short sleeve shirt. He didn’t even look warm at all. Now for me? I had sweat running down my face. When I came in, into the shower I went. I sure hope that I can pick up a different type of gift … and Soon!

The cows needed corn, so Daryl got the mill out to grind a new batch. Even with this crazy heat – the cows are still eating, which is a good thing. There is a chance of rain later this week and we really do need it! Another day of 100 degrees without rain is literally burning up the corn and beans.

I noticed that when I was walking through the yard there was an egg broke in it. I couldn’t figure out at first why it would be there, but then I remembered that this is where Daryl was driving the mill. I wonder if the peacocks had a nest on top of it? First of all, that sounds pretty dumb doesn’t it? Then second, I wonder if there are any more eggs up there? In the past, the peacock hens would lay about 3 to 5 eggs and then sit on them to hatch. I’m going to take a look this week to see if she did make a nest on top of it. It would be kind of a safe spot I guess, but in the shed with the hay bales would have been a much better one you would think.
