Painting again

I bet that’s a surprise, huh? Well, it’s not what you think. I was asked if I would help with the church rectory to get it ready for the new couple that will be moving in the beginning of July. It was the first ‘official’ volunteer project that I was asked to help with since I have been home. I was glad that it was a painting job, because that’s pretty easy. I helped today with painting trim in the kitchen and some doors.  I only helped for a couple of hours, and then I came home to work in the garden. If you ever have seen those shows that they are showing on the satellite channels now about if in 5, 10, or whatever many years, if there wasn’t man on the earth what would it look like?  Well I can tell you what in 7 days without me weeding the garden it looks like – BAD! So I spent the afternoon weeding and getting it to look a lot better. I rescued the strawberry patch from the creeping charlie and even William said it really looks good. When I was in the garden the dogs were keeping busy. Check out the picture below of what they found by one of the sheds.

I didn't see this guy later on in the day. I think the dogs maybe played a little bit too hard with him

They also entertained themselves with about 4 mid size birds. While the dogs were throwing the birds up in the air, the rest of the birds just were going crazy. It was getting so loud in the yard with the birds having a fit and then the peacocks were screaming because the birds were going crazy, I just about had it with all of them! But I get tired of trying to save the birds, so for the last while I think it must just be part of nature. (OK, maybe a little bit of me being lazy is also in there) But the garden is cleaned and I’ll have to take a picture tomorrow to show you. Kyle and his friend Mariel got home from Des Moines this afternoon from being at a concert last night. It sounded like they had a great time. Now both Daryl and I have been to a lot of concerts in our time, but never have we bought water to pour over our heads to cool us down. They said it was so hot in there, that this worked really well. I’m thinking that it was a good time!  William is busy packing for Europe which will be coming up soon. Off to the discount store he went tonight to pick up a couple of things that he’ll need.

Speaking of things coming up soon, our bike ride is just around the corner. Daryl and I were going to go on a bike ride tonight, but Kyle made everyone supper and that seemed like the better idea of the two. As for tonight, I sure hope our dogs behave themselves. Last night around 12:30 I could hear them bark , and they seemed to be barking out in our yard and not in the barn. So out I go, and find them just exactly how I was expecting them. They broke the latch on the barn and got out for the night. Well with my bathrobe on and a hammer in hand, I hammered on a new hook. Only to find out that they broke that one this morning and Apollo jumped out the top of the barn door to get out. Since Reno can’t jump that high, he stood in the yard barking again. Ugghhh. So today I nailed on two more hooks and we’ll see how tonight goes.

I also took a picture of one of my flower pots. I don’t know why the blue flowers this year are looking so good – but they are just a beautiful color.

Kind of pretty
