Too Funny!

OK, I just had to share with you the picture that was taken with Daryl and his cake last night. Now we always use the ‘numbers’ for all the birthday cakes and I guess as the years are coming and going – we’ve never needed doubles of some of the numbers. So for Daryl’s cake, I made one of  with the numbers with cardboard and then decorated it. For fun, we lit a corner of it so Daryl can blow out his candles. But the cardboard was a little bit more flammable than we were thinking! Daryl was a good sport about it, and he blew the candles out before the fire got out of hand. The boys made a comment that it might just be time to invest in new candles. The ones that we had are as old as the boys, and Kyle is 25 now, going on 26. Yea, I guess it’s time to invest in some new ones.

Who knew that turning 55 could be so hot?

This morning when we woke up it started to drizzle, so Daryl went out and put the corn that he had on two wagons into the shed. When I went out to see if he needed help, we had the prettiest rainbows that I’ve seen in a long time. They were literally in our neighbors field. It was a double rainbow, and even though the picture doesn’t do it justice, it was still really nice. William grabbed his camera on the way to school, but by the time he was on the road they were gone. William showed me that if you look at the main rainbow, the blue stripe is on the bottom, and if you look at the other one, it has the blue on the top. It mirrors the main rainbow. Kind of cool.

Daryl was able to get his skid loader bucket back from the repair shop tonight. It sure looks good and I’m thinking that it’ll come in handy when we are going to work on a new flower bed … hopefully soon!

And if you are wondering how the little kitty is doing? Let’s just say, she’s doing OK. She’s still living in our house and if you are not holding her, she just meow’s and meow’s. For awhile today she slept in Kyle’s bed and I saw her sleeping with William by the fireplace another time. William took her outside and she goes to the bathroom out there. So as long as she does that, I’m OK with her living in my laundry basket in the bathroom.

William needed some cinnamon rolls for his foods class that he wasn’t able to go to while they were in Des Moines. He asked if I would help him with making some, and I have never had good luck with any kind of bread. So I ran into a good cook today, and asked if she had any easy roll recipe. She gave me one, and so far .. so good. But I think I have to still bake them tonight, and I don’t even have them rolled out yet. I sure hope they raise soon!
