Yea! Kyle is home. We picked him up yesterday from the airport, and what a nice feeling it is to have both boys in our house again. Daryl and I were a little early at the airport and when his flight was supposed to land, it seemed like forever to have him come around the corner to where we were planning on meeting him. His luggage arrived with no issues (all 48 lbs of it!) and back to our home we went. It’s been a couple of years since he’s been home, so knowing that the one thing that he didn’t have in Korea was a bath tub, I bought 4 bags of salt for the water softener. It was a good choice because he took a bath when he got home, and this morning I heard the bath water running at 6:30 and was wondering why William was taking a bath. Then I heard Kyle on the other side of the door and that made much more sense. I guess there could be worse things, right?
The one thing that he wanted to work on while he was home was to figure out is how to get his pictures off his old laptop. When he was in Korea, his hard drive crashed. Now this isn’t such a big deal other than he has all his travel pictures on that laptop and no where else. The pictures were from 2 trips to China, a trip to Dubai, Philippines, 2 trips to Korea, Greece, Italy, England, France, Belgium, Guam, and the Palau Islands. So you can see it was a big deal! After talking to the Geek Squad at Best Buy, they thought they could recover them. Could it really be this easy? After making a fast trip to Waterloo, the repair guy said it wasn’t a big deal, and he could do it. While we were there, Kyle ended up buying a new laptop AND an external hard drive to store his pictures and music. It’s kind of a shame that you can buy something new for less than half of the cost of fixing yours. But that’s what he did, and now he’s busy setting it up. Hopefully he’ll have good luck with it for the next couple of years.
Other things going on today is the chickens are doing a really good job laying eggs. Kyle said that he usually eats hard boiled eggs in the morning for breakfast – but I’m thinking he won’t eat that many! Also with the crazy wind that we’ve had the last couple of days, it actually blew the door back over in the cattle shed. Cool huh! It doesn’t look the best, but at least it’s back where it’s supposed to be.
