Holding my breath

We had cement sitting by the Roadhouse since we had the gutters cemented in. I was really surprised on how much they had to take out, and also how heavy the cement was! Daryl has been trying to haul it away now for a couple of days and the weather was either crappy or just bad timing, but tonight was his chance. The place that he wanted to haul it to was a local cement business that takes old cement and reuses it. You still have to pay them to take it, but as long as we had to the chance to take it there, it was a good choice for us. I was in the process of painting upstairs the attic steps (yuck!) when he said that he was going to haul it away tonight. I was glad to get away from painting for awhile and told Daryl that I’d help him.  This cement is so heavy because it’s old and was hand mixed by Daryl’s dad, that we had to use a skid loader and the tractor and bucket to pick up the pieces that fell off the wagon when the contractor loaded it. So now the wagon is loaded and the one wheel on the second wagon was looking a little low and honestly kinda bad. But the wagons are loaded and Daryl was on a mission so he was going to take them tonight. Daryl said he would take his cell phone in case he got into trouble. OK I’m not sure what he thought that I’d help with, but everywhere in the house I carried my cell phone.. just in case he called. But after holding my breath and hoping that no big blocks fell off or that tire blew – he called! He said that he didn’t have any trouble and was on his way home. Thank goodness that this is done, now we’re hoping the electrician comes this week.

Taking the gravels ... just in case
