It all started a couple of weeks ago when Daryl said that he was getting a sore throat. That usually means that he’s going to get a cold and will probably end up getting a fever. Yup, that’s exactly what happened. His philosophy is that when you are sick, you don’t need to go to the doctor.. you just have to ‘sweat it out’. If you’re not familiar with this process (and to be honest, I think Daryl made it up), it means that you put on sweat pants, sweat shirt and then you cover yourself up with blankets and try to literally sweat it out. Well, finally a couple of nights ago his fever broke and he started to feel better. He was so sick that he actually missed one of the high school basketball games. And if you know Daryl, that was a big thing. Of course it was one that William had gotten to play the most out of any game this year – but isn’t that how it always goes?
OK, so now over the weekend William said he didn’t feel well. He even said that he threw up. There are some families that just by bad luck will be sick quite a bit, but our boys are lucky in that respect. If I had to say how many times William had thrown up, I would say less than 5 times in his life. And Kyle would be the same. So when William said he was sick, he was sick. We have a gas fireplace in our living room and when you want to get warm, it’s the best place to lay. So William slept by it to keep warm last night and Daryl moved him once because he was really close to the heat and not that he’d start cooking or anything … but he didn’t need to get that warm! This morning he still wasn’t feeling well, so after calling the school to see when he had to be there to be able to perform in the band concert tonight, we found out that he had to be in school at 9 am. If he didn’t have a couple of solo’s for the concert tonight, it wouldn’t have been such a big deal. But he did, and now we were trying to figure it out if he was going to school or not. So he slept for awhile and after taking a hot shower he felt better. Off to school he went.
I sure hope that this is our turn at not feeling well, because as the school year is coming closer to an end, we really don’t want to spend any of the time being sick! Even my poor rose plant is looking pretty sick don’t you think? I got it for my birthday and I’ve been trying to nurse it back to health. Daryl said that he thought it needed some more sunlight, but when I moved it to a new spot, almost half of the leaves fell off. I also read that indoor rose plants are supposed to be watered everyday. I think that I will have to come up with another plan for this plant and soon!
