Our Basement and the Weekend

One thing that seems to come with the winter, is a farm basement that has lost it’s fresh smell. Now our basement never really smells fresh, but it does seem to get a stale smell over the long winter. So yesterday I went and bought a mop. I was trying to think if I ever bought a regular mop before, and I don’t think I ever did. I’ve got a steam mop and a micro fiber mop… but not just a twisted cloth mop. I wanted to scrub the basement and I knew that the other two mops that I have wouldn’t work too well. I also made one of the first of many trips to the Good Will store. I’ve got too much stuff downstairs and some of it needs to go. Daryl was a little worried when I said I was going to start cleaning it yesterday, but he knows that I wouldn’t throw out his stuff without asking. Most of the stuff (or almost all) of it, is stuff that I’ve put down there anyway, so I think he’s safe. After I read the directions on the ‘new’ mop this morning – down to the basement I went. I had the mop and a pail of pine smelling water in tow. I spent the morning scrubbing the front basement and it looks pretty good and smells a lot like lemons. I didn’t  get everything moved to scrub, but I got most of it freshened up.

While I was working in the basement, I could hear the tractor running out in the yard. When I went to see what was going on, I found Daryl grinding feed for the cattle. I sure like the weekends when Daryl is outside and you can hear the tractor running and you see the dogs nearby just waiting to see what he’s going to do next . It just seems like everything is just how it should be.
