I wasn’t sure that they were going to be able to cement today with the weather really cold and snowy outside, but they said it won’t be a problem. I was so excited for them to be able to finish this today. Having a cement truck in our yard just isn’t something that happens very often at our farm and it was exciting today to see one. I didn’t know when they would be coming, so when I saw that the contractor moved his truck I hurried up and put my boots on. But it seemed forever that I had them on and it didn’t take long for me to realize that I would have to scrub the floor again. But all of a sudden I saw the truck coming down the road and I waited for them to get in our yard… and out I went with my camera in my hand. I took a couple of pictures of them getting started and then got out of their way. I’m guessing they’re not used to having someone ‘just hanging out’ when they are working. They were able to get everything all cemented and patched and now we just need to keep it warm inside the shed so the cement cures for 5 days. The dogs were excited when the contractors were done because up until then they were locked up inside the barn. Before they got locked up they were way too close to the action and with the cement costing around $120 a yard for winter cement, I didn’t think Daryl wanted foot prints all over!
With the excitement over, I started to clean up some things that I set aside upstairs. One of the things that I’ve put off putting away was the movie projector. I saw it when I was putting the Christmas stuff away in the attic and I didn’t know if it worked or not. I got out a couple of tapes from when Kyle was 1 (1987) and it was so much fun to watch it. The tapes are not as long as I would wish them to be, but I did watch a couple of them until the projector started acting kind of goofy. It’s unreal on how fast the time goes doesn’t it? The tapes are about 4 minutes long and I was getting pretty nostalgic for awhile today. I saw tapes of my Grandma Croatt at a birthday party with my Mom and Dad at the party and Kyle’s first steps along with some of his first Christmas’s. I’ve got to figure out how to either fix the projector or how I can get them transferred over to DVD’s. I think tomorrow I’ll get out the other camcorder that we used when William was little. Since this uses a different way to watch them, I’ll see if I can get this set up for William to watch tomorrow night.
