Getting closer …

Have you ever had one of those days when it seems like you’re just a step behind of everything? That’s what kind of a day I had today. Now I’m not saying it was bad – just kind of wierd. The reason I’m saying this is because I waited for our contractor to come and kind of stayed around the farm if they needed anything. I didn’t want to start anything, you know just in case. Daryl was able to come home to talk to him and everything looked like we were on track. Then all of a sudden I heard someone at our door and thought…. oh oh. You guessed it, there was trouble. What happened was when they were getting ready to move the water line they noticed that the pipe was bad. By the time they dug around the line, there was 3 or 4 spots that was spraying water out of it. It sounded like the mud (OK hog manure) was caked onto it so tight that when it was removed,  the trouble began. I asked the contractor what I should do and he said …. ‘You should be calling a plumber’ So by now he’s thinking I’m a complete idiot I’m sure. But I didn’t know if this was something that they could fix or not. Clearly by the look on his face the correct answer to that question was not! So they shut off the pump to the well and why is it that once you know that you can’t have any water in the house, everything that you want to do deals with water. I thought – I should throw a load of laundry in the washing machine .. Not!, I needed to scrub the kitchen floor.. Nope!, well you get the picture. But  I was able to get a hold of Daryl to let him know and he was able to get a plumber to come within the next two hours and put in a new line. We all agreed that if this was going to happen, it was a good thing to happen now and not after the cement was poured. The cement contractors are coming back tomorrow and hopefully this part of the shed will be done. Yea!  We just got home from the UIC band festival in West Union and Daryl said he was going to check on the heater in the Roadhouse and make sure that it’s still warm enough in there. He said he didn’t want the pipes to freeze tonight because they were exposed. But it’s a funny thing – I think he took a newspaper and some pop out with him to check on it and I haven’t seen him since.
