First pail of red paint gone – only 65 gallons to go!

One down - many more to go.

The first pail bit the dust today. It is really hard to go from painting with latex paint to painting with oil paint. How I would describe painting with oil it’s like putting jam on soft bread. It just soaks into it as you try to put a good layer on. But I almost have the chicken coop done so that’s good. I am checking into two new windows that I’ll need. It sounds like I can buy them from Sumner so I’ll have to call them back tomorrow. The funny thing is that I washed the windows that are still in the coop this afternoon and it looks so weird to see inside now. I know that they’ve never been washed before.

I toughed out the wind today but the whole time that I was painting I was thinking of the Karate Kid movie and was expecting the old man teacher to come around the corner and say ‘paint on…’  I lost some of my momentum today but when I got closer to the end of the pail I knew that there was a cold Coors Light in the fridge just waiting for me so I hurried and got through it! We have some errands to run in the morning and the afternoon is planned for mowing and Dairy Days, so it looks like I won’t be able to paint again until Thursday. My goal is to have it done by Saturday.
