I decided to change my strategy with Slick the gopher. I pulled the trap up a couple of days ago and what I would guess he was thinking is that I gave up. No way! I pulled it up to trick him and catch him off guard because now he thinks I’m going to leave him alone. I also pulled it up because he made me so mad when I checked the trap the last time because he made 7 new gopher mounds AFTER the trap was set. So I was pretty sure when I checked it that it wasn’t going to have him hooked on the end of it. I also think it was a little bit of a show off. Now that I went back today to reset the trap, there was no more new ones made. Kind of strange don’t you think? I’ve been given some additional advice on how I need to set the trap, so I took a picture to show that I’ve used everyone’s advice and hope to be able to hang up my trap for the summer! Oh I also want to add that I did cover the hole with cardboard and dirt in case you were wondering.
Advice: 1) put trap between two tunnels, 2) trap should be flat, 3) partially cover trap with loose dirt to trick him that it’s not there
Your stories about this gopher named Slick brings back memories of watching Caddy Shack and Mr. Go-phier!! I can picture him peeking out of his freshest dug hole doing the gopher dance and watching you walk away!
