The weather today was rainy and at one point there was even a little bit of sleet. Yuck! We know that we are in a crunch to get the rest of the painting done – but when the weather is bad like it was today, it only makes us more nervous. It’s supposed to get better by the weekend so we’re hoping to get the rest of the painting done.

So with the weather all crappy outside I thought I’d make a new recipe for supper. It was an Asian chicken that took 6 hours in the crock pot. It was not very good. It was so bad that we warmed up hot dogs instead and gave the dogs the chicken dish! When I locked them up in the barn tonight, the food was still where I put it and it looked like they didn’t like it either. I also made an angel food cake from scratch but this turned out pretty good. I started to mix it up when I realized that I needed more cream of tarter. Now I’m not sure why anyone would run out of cream of tarter, but I did. So I went into town to see if the gas station had any and they didn’t . Good thing I put on a decent coat over my old clothes because now I had to drive to another town to pick some up. I did find some and back home I went. The cake is good and I think I’d make that recipe again. This recipe took 13 egg whites which is quite a bit. I’m working on new recipes to use up all my eggs that we’ve been getting. Our chickens are not being shy and are doing their best to lay TONS of eggs. Oh well, it gives me reasons to try new things. And if they don’t turn out? Well then the dogs get a treat before they get locked up for the night.
