Made a commitment

So today I made the commitment and went to get the primer that we’ll need for the farrowing house. I think I’m attracting police lately because the last time I went to Decorah I followed a cop, the last time I went to Waterloo I had to follow a cop, and then today I was driving and saw someone on the side of the road and I thought – Oh yea, it’s another cop. And I was right! I wasn’t speeding too bad and when I looked back in my mirror I could see him turn on the road and start following me. I had the pick up so it wasn’t hard to keep it in the speed limit, but I tried to act like it’s no big deal so I was singing to the radio and checking out the farm yards of the farms along the side of the roads. I caught myself trying to act like it wasn’t such a big deal that I wasn’t paying that much attention to how I was driving. I thought I’d better knock it off, so then I tried to just keep it on the road. Finally the cop turned off the highway. I think he thought that maybe I was one of those afternoon drivers and should maybe leave me alone. You know the ones. They are the drivers that have all day to get wherever they are going and are pretty harmless. Geez, I sure hope that I’m not turning into that type of driver. But the good thing is that I didn’t get pulled over or a ticket any of these times.

I also was on a mission today to get some clothes for both William and Daryl. They are both in the upcoming Musical at our school and needed clothes for it. I had such good luck at the Good Will store in New Hampton.  They were having a sale, so I bought Daryl a three piece suit (that actually fits!) for $0.30. Yup. Isn’t that crazy? I was talking to my sister and said if someone feels that they can’t afford to look nice, I’m thinking that I disagree! For less than 50 cents you can be getting groceries in a suit! And for William, I didn’t really find anything that he’s going to use. It looks like he’s going to wear Daryl’s suit from high school. It fits good other than it’s too long. I think Daryl wore platform shoes to look groovy when he wore it back in the 70’s.

I went to visit our lawn mower guy again. I’m not very good at guessing ages, but I think he’s in his mid 80’s. Since this is about the third or fourth trip that I’ve gone there for this lawn mower, I told him that the neighbors are going to start to talk about us. He looked at me really serious and said that they won’t do that. Now I’m not sure what that meant? Either that he was OK with me visiting him or that he was hoping that this was the last time he was going to see me. Anyway, when he was getting our lawn mower out of his garage he had this really fast motorcycle in it. So maybe I’m wrong about the age?

I’m really excited about tomorrow. We’re having the contractor coming to look at putting in our windows in the farrowing house. Yippee! Hopefully he won’t think that it’s going to be so hard. He thought he could put them in by the middle of November. It’s going to look so good.
