Fall is really here

This morning I saw a huge flock of geese flying and it reminded me that the fall season is really here. I was hoping that it was just a passing thing but I guess I was wrong. It was so windy today, that when I was painting and came off the ladder the wind took it and smashed it to the ground. Now it’s a bent ladder. So for the rest of the afternoon I made sure that the ladder caught on the underside of the roof so it wouldn’t fall again. The weather is also turning colder. Tonight it’s supposed to freeze so I took most of the flowers and put them in the greenhouse. I’m going to cover the ones in the flower boxes by the barn and hopefully I’ll keep them blooming for awhile. As far as the tomatoes and raspberries – good bye until next year. I’m not going to save them anymore.

I took the annual picture of William by two special trees tonight on our farm. One was planted for my Dad and the other one was planted for Daryl’s Mom & Dad. They were given to us from some friends of ours and William takes his picture by them every year. It crazy to see not only how the trees have grown, but also how much William has also grown.

I’m also attaching a picture of our other son who is living in South Korea. He sent it to us so show the children that’s in his classroom. They had to dress up for his class and I just love this picture.

What’s happening on the farm is that everyone is busy chopping stalks and making bales for bedding in the winter. Daryl’s been working late this week chopping stalks. It’s so dry and dirty in the fields that I was in the living room and looked out tonight and thought that there was a fire someplace. All I saw was a haze! But what it really was, was our neighbor raking the stalks together in his field. Man was that a lot of dirt in the air.
