I’m feeling close to Johnny Cash today. I’ve got had his song stuck in my head today and was making up my own lyrics to all day. The song that I’ve been thinking of is – ‘I’ve Been Everywhere’
Johnny Cash’s lyrics go like this:
I’ve been everywhere, man
I’ve been everywhere, man
Across the deserts bare, man
I’ve breathed the mountain air, man
Of travel I’ve had my share, man
I’ve been everywhere
I’ve been to Reno, Chicago, Fargo
Minnesota, Buffalo, Toronto, Winslow
Sarasota, Wichita, Tulsa, Ottawa
Oklahoma, Tampa, Panama
Mattawa, La Paloma, Bangor
Baltimore, Salvador, Amarillo
Tocopilla, Barranquilla and
Padilla, I’m a killer
So why am I thinking about this? Well I’ve been on the road today and just kind of enjoying driving around. So today I’ve been to Spillville, Conover, Decorah, Fort Atkinson, Alpha, Sumner, Lawler, Waucoma, St. Lucas, my sister in laws, and 2 different corn fields, man. We were supposed to also go to New Hampton to bring the Chevelle to get some seat belts put into it but that person ended up with an emergency to go to. So while I’m driving around I’m singing this Johnny Cash’s song and putting my own words into it. I was glad that I didn’t have anyone else in the car because I was having a good time making my own song up, you know what I mean . . . you sing a little and then laugh…. OK, it might have been a little creepy to a passenger. Oh well.
