New sandals

This is what we woke up to today. Yup, snow. But I’m thinking that spring will turn to summer real fast once it gets here so I thought I’d better get some bicycling sandals ordered. This is what my sandals looked like at the end of last year. And if you’re thinking that they look bad in the picture let me just tell you that they look even worse in person.They were duck taped and gorilla taped together just so that I could finish Ragbrai last year.  So I’ve been on this quest to find some new ones. What I found out from one of the bicycle shops is that 90% of all cycling sandals are sold to people in Iowa. Now that’s kind of crazy isn’t it? But I think we’re so excited to be done with winter that we think that we’re going to wear sandals no matter what! I know that last week Daryl and I went out and it was raining and just plain miserable and cold. But I thought that I’m going to wear sandals even if my toes turn blue! It’s almost May and that’s that! So maybe the same mentality is for others in the spring. If it’s nice enough to be on your bike – then it’s nice enough to wear sandals. I don’t know. But what I do know is that my sandals should be here in about a week and I’m hoping that we’ll get our bikes dusted off and head out for a ride. Oh yea, I also hope that this is the end of the snow until winter 🙂
