By now you probably have caught on that the weather around here is cold. But this morning it really was cold. I went out to start the car and she did growl a little, but then it was early and sometimes I feel like I could growl too! Then I ran back into the house to finish getting dressed. But as I’m walking out the front door to leave I noticed that my shoes kind of stuck to the front porch. I thought how weird is that? But I didn’t think much more about it and I ran to the car to get to work. Later I realized that my boots were warm and once they hit the cement they froze. As I left the driveway the car was still making some creaking noises. Then I looked down at the dash and saw what the temperature was. Seriously? It started out as -28 degrees and it kept going down as I was getting closer to work. When I finally got to work this is what I saw for air temperature. Not wind chill, but air temperature! Yea. This is not a good thing at all. But the weather is supposed to turn warmer and it sure won’t come too soon!
Kyle’s been doing the chores both in the morning and night. It’s been so nice with Daryl gone that I don’t have to worry about the chores. Kyle probably doesn’t remember feeding calves when he was so young, but we did have a lot of them when we were milking cows. I dug out a couple of the pictures when he was little and always in the calf pen. Check them out
Other than that I’ve had to find a couple more numbers for our tax’s. We met with the person who does our taxes yesterday and it didn’t turn out too bad. It’s always stressful when your’e going into the appointment and you try to act calm and like it’s no big deal. But inside? Holy smokes… you’re just holding your breath!
Daryl quick put up the new shelf in the Craft Room before he left earlier this week. He had the worst time trying to get the screws into the wall! Now our downstairs was all remodeled with new sheet rock on the walls. But the upstairs still has the old plaster and lathes. We found out when we remodeled that the lathes were hand cut out of oak and when Daryl was trying to put the shelf up – he must have found some of that hard oak! With the drill in one hand and the screw in the other, he couldn’t even start it in the wall!! Now you would think with the original walls still upstairs and our house around 120 years old that they wouldn’t be so tough right? Well, finally after a couple of tries he was able to get the shelf up. For now I have ribbon on it, but I feel that this shelf will never .. ever fall down and I’m wasting it by putting light things on it. I’m sure that I’ll change it around more than once until I find out what I really want on it. I also put up a new organizer for bills in the room. Kinda cool isn’t it? Well that is if you like the 1950’s
