‘When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter…’

With it being Christmas Eve there’s always stuff to do. And most of my stuff involves being upstairs putting away clothes, wrapping gifts,… just stuff.

So this morning when I could hear a brrrummmm in the yard I figured that it was just the boys coming home from town and tearing around in the yard. So I didn’t think much of it. Then the door bell rang and I thought what in the world? I thought to myself that this better be good if I’m stopping what I’m doing and having to answer the door! I started to beat it down the steps when I heard something hit the floor in the kitchen and before I got to the bottom of the steps, the front door shut hard. And just as I came into the kitchen I could see out of the corner of my eye  who was driving away. It was .. the UPS guy! I swear he had to run to and from his truck just to get in and out of our house that fast!!

He was delivering a package that I ordered. I ordered 2 things from Amazon last Thursday, December 19th late at night and it said that it would be in before Christmas. The first thing was something for myself and it was going to be delivered on Dec 23. The second thing was a gift and that said that it would be delivered on Dec 24th. Not that I’m a skeptic, but I wasn’t sure that this would happen at all and to be honest it was more of an experiment than anything else. I mean, I can hardly get groceries in the store these days without just a million people around.  How can they get these two packages pulled from their stock, packaged up, mailed, and delivered from Thursday around 11:00 pm to our door on Monday & Tuesday.  Guess what? They were able to do it. In the mail yesterday was the first package that I ordered.  But could they get both of them on time? The second one was supposed to be here on Tuesday, Dec 24th. Well, since the UPS driver was here and gone before noon today I guess the answer was yes. That’s just simply amazing.
