Kayak shopping

Do you know how many different kayaks there are in the world? If you guessed millions – you probably are not too far off. I seriously knew that it wasn’t going to be this hard and that all I would have to do is to pick the one that looked like something that I would like and then that would be it. So since this is a gift from Daryl for my birthday, we decided to make an afternoon of it. We knew of this one place that sells kayaks and so we headed south to see what we should buy. First, we stopped off at a local restaurant to get something in our belly. We didn’t want to shop on an empty stomach. OK, so we walk into this shop and instantly we knew that this wasn’t going to be easy. They had a lot to choose from and then they said that they usually have around 300 more in storage in the basement if we wanted a different color or style. Yea, good thing we ate before we went there because at this point I knew that we were going to be there for awhile. So now we had a couple different styles pulled down and the next thing to do is to test out the seats. And you know even though this sounds pretty silly, there really is a lot of difference in the seats. Then how long do you want the kayak, and …. well you get the point. So with a handful of brochures in my hand, and getting their schedule of when you can test drive? different models of kayaks on local lakes and rivers, out the door we went and came home. Picking out a car seems easier than this. How I like to pick out a car is strictly how nice it looks. What the color of the car is and how good it’s going to make me look. Maybe next time we go with this shopping tactic instead 🙂
