Sunday was such a great day to just hang out around the house. We even forgot that we had fund raiser tickets for brunch in the morning. Now that’s what you call relaxed! But as the day went on, and with the snow that was in the yard, Daryl got out the tractor with the bucket and scraped the yard. Even though that there wasn’t much snow piled up, it’s nice to get it cleaned up.
So what did I do all day? Well I worked on getting 4 lbs of beef jerky ready to to be sent to the boys, and I also made a couple of Valentine cards. It was fun to spend the time in the scrap book room just kind of checking stuff out and seeing what I could come up with for Valentine cards that wasn’t too mushy for the boys. I still need to make Daryl’s Valentine card – but that one can be mushy 🙂  Once I had the cards done for the boys, and the boxes packed with other good stuff, now all I had to do was to add the tape to the top of the boxes. Just as I was going to put the tape on, I remembered the beef jerky. If you’ve ever seen 4 lbs of beef jerky, you couldn’t believe that I could actually forget it! Man I was glad that I remembered it. There would be no way that Daryl and I could ever eat that much. Even with Reno helping us, it just wouldn’t happen. Finally I got both boxes taped and ready to go last night, and this morning I headed to the Post Office during my lunch break to get them mailed. I should have asked how much they weighed because they were really heavy! William’s should get to him in just a couple of days, and for Kyle’s – maybe Friday? I’m hoping not too much later for Kyle’s because I packed some Mason City newspapers for the Music Man show that he’s involved with in Canada. They asked him if he could get some ‘original’ Iowa newspapers, and what better paper for this musical than the Mason City Newspaper?
I also found a new recipe that is so easy to make. But I do have to warn you about making it. You don’t want to make it if there isn’t anyone else in your house that will help you eat it. Â Normally I wouldn’t eat this at a restaurant, but after I made it – I literally ate the whole thing. I guess I found out too late that Daryl has a much higher dieting level than I do, and he only took a small corner out of one of the pieces. Â Yikes! So tonight after work I ended up polishing the last piece off. Check out the recipe below:
- 1/4 cup butter *make sure butter is cold*
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- dash of salt
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1 can Pillsbury Cresent Rolls
Cut in butter to sugars, cinnamon, and salt and flour to form crumbs.
On an ungreased cookie sheet, separate crescent roll dough into 8 triangles. Sprinkle crumbs on top.
Bake at 400 degrees F for 8-12 minutes. Drizzle frosting over the top of each triangle.
