My decorating dilemma

I’ve been trying to figure out just what to put on our living room wall and for the life of me, I really don’t know what I want to put up there. First of all, this is the wall that I need to decorate.

What I'm trying to decorate

It doesn’t look like it would be that bad, and I know that I’ll find what I’m looking for when I least expect it. So on Saturday I got up and had the house vacuumed and the laundry done, so I filled up the car with gas and headed west. Now when I say west, I don’t really mean ‘West’, I mean I started out in the closest town by us which is 8 miles away and west of us. I knew that I didn’t want another picture hanging on the wall, because I have a couple in the room already. And I also have some tin art in there, so that’s out. My first stop was to my favorite hardware store to see what they’ve got in so far for spring, and came out only with a birthday card for my mom. I thought that I’d take the long way around and stopped off at another town to do a little bit of scrapbook shopping in one of my new favorite little stores. Then to an antique dealer that has three sheds full of treasures – but still no luck. OK, maybe if I get my mind off of it and not work so hard something might come to me. So I headed now north to my favorite clothing store to see if I could get a new purse. (I don’t like my last one at all!) I didn’t find a purse, but I really had to work hard to talk myself out of another new winter coat. So I left empty handed and continued to drive north now into Minnesota. There is an antique mall with tons of different dealers and I thought that I maybe come up with an idea there. I didn’t find anything that I could use in the living room, but I did find a rug beater that would work in our bathroom.

I moved some things around in the bathroom and there was a spot that I needed something small to fill it in. It fits pretty good, so I was happy about that purchase. As for my wall? Well, I’m sure that something will come up one of these days. I’m hoping that it’ll be a unique idea and that it looks cool! Oh yea, and that I find it soon!

As for today, the weather man was right and we got an ice and rain storm that blew in. I was worried with all the ice that was on the lines, that we would loose our electricity. But with luck on our side we didn’t. I spent the afternoon going through all our Christmas stuff and organized it much better than it was. It was a job that I was putting off for about a month now and really glad that it was done. Daryl helped by putting the totes back up in the attic for another year. I put a roast in the crock pot for supper and normally it’s not our favorite meal. But this new recipe was for shredded beef and it wasn’t too bad. Daryl made some mashed potatoes and put the whole thing on top of  bread. He said it was good, but maybe it was because we haven’t had home made mashed potatoes for awhile. Either way, it was one of those stick to your rib meals. With not much of anything on TV, I decided to do some scrap booking. On my road trip on Saturday, I picked up a couple of new stamps and was looking for an excuse to use them. We’ve got a couple of weddings this summer, so I thought I’d see what I could come up with for cards.

Now it’s time to take a warm bath and head to bed for the night. I think I’ll have to leave early tomorrow morning for work because it looks like an ice rink outside right now!
