Harvest is done!

Daryl pulled into the yard tonight with the combine. This is good and also kind of bad. It’s good because now things will start to slow down a little bit, but it’s also bad because it’s the first time that he said that he can ever remember that he got done before October 1st with the field work. The crops didn’t turn out too bad, and you know that you are always hoping for better. But we did get some crops  and that’s a good feeling. Especially this year!

Bringing the combine home until next fall

He also cut hay tonight and he was going to rake it up to see what we would have to for bales for the cows. I guess we’ll see what we have tomorrow if there’s enough to bother with it.

I ended up getting a new phone today and it’s probably the first time that I had to ask how to even turn it on. In  my new job, you can check your emails at home on your phone and it’s not that uncommon to call someone both during the work hours or after using your cell phone. I had kind of a stressful day today, so I just went ahead and bought one! OK, so maybe it was an impulse buy, but I knew that I was going to do it when I left work tonight. I’m hoping to figure out some of the features on my own and I even practiced on making a few phone calls already. But if I get real desperate, they have a ‘phone class’ once a month to go over some of the features that the new phones have to offer. How times have changed!

I finally got around to making a birthday card that was long overdue last night. It was the first time that I made one with a cut out in it, and it turned out better than I was hoping it was going to. I just kind of ‘winged it’ and was happy with the results.

Check out the picture that I took of Apollo yesterday sleeping. I spent quite a bit of time brushing the two dogs out, and apparently he is feeling just pretty good about life about now. I’m thinking that a little modesty goes a long way.

Not sure what's going on here

I also took a picture of Rion  with a flower that I got at the wedding on Saturday.  I think he looks REALLY NICE.. but Daryl think he looks really sissy. I had trouble with keeping the flower in his hair because he kept wanting to eat it! He’s starting to really get fat and he even has kind of bloated a little bit lately. His knees were all grass stained and I think he was crawling under the fence to get the grass. He’s truly an example of the old saying, ‘The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence’. Our neighbor told us this weekend that the cows were out for a walk the other day and he found them walking up the road to their place. So he said he chased them back to the farm.We didn’t even know that they got out until then. It seems like since I’m not around during the day, they think they can do whatever they want!

Are there jobs out there for cow models?
