It just seems like the same story over and over with the heat doesn’t it. It is hot outside and we are expected to get to 100. I don’t know how hot it actually did get, but the sun almost seemed to burn your skin when you were outside. I kept all the shades drawn in the house and when I went, I tried to stay out for awhile so I wasn’t opening and closing the door all the time. I have the air conditioning turned up to the mid 80’s and then at night we turn it down to sleep. Even though the temperature in our house is in the 80 degrees, it’s pretty comfortable especially when you come in from outside! Some of our neighbors are starting to spray their crops for bugs. There is a lot of conversations if you need to do this or not this year. If we don’t get rain in our area in the next two days, there is none predicated for a couple of weeks. So do you spend the extra cash on your crop when you might not get any crops? If it would only rain about an inch everything would look so much better. I have never watched the news so much in my life as I have been lately and now we are trying to not watch it at all.
I took most of my potted plants and put them inside a shed for now. Even with them getting watered, they are just literally frying in the heat. I also keep watering my garden and that seems to be holding the moisture not too bad. When my Dad died, we planted a tree in memory of him in the back yard. When it started to come up, William and I looked at it and realized that it might be too close to the garden. But this year we found out that it was a perfect spot. The garden gets the sunshine in the morning, and then later in the afternoon when the sun is at it’s hottest, the tree shades the garden just a little bit and is helping to keep some of the moisture in.
