When the sun shines – farmers make hay, and that’s exactly what we did this afternoon. Daryl raked it once more in the morning, and by the afternoon it was fit. Now I know that I’m not the best bale driver in Chickasaw County – but I’m Daryl’s only driver left on the farm. He gave me a refresher course on what to do and off we went. I’ve got the ‘picking up the end rows’ down pretty good, but I’m still having trouble with what rows are supposed to be done in what order. We even were getting pretty good at the hand signals that are used by the person who is on the wagon. These of course are unique to each individual and can be a challenge. Oh well, it went well and we got it done, and I did a pretty good job. I was sure sweating a lot and was really warm, and poor Daryl was the one on the wagon loading bales.
Then later in the afternoon we met my brother at my Mom’s in St. Lucas and headed North for a bicycle ride. I don’t know how hot it got today, but riding bike it wasn’t as bad as you would have thought it would be. We stopped in Spillville at the Speakeasy (restaurant and bar) and got re-hydrated. Then back to St. Lucas we went. The ride was about 24 miles and it was a lot of fun. I really like this ride that we took today. Part of it you ride by rolling hills and the cows are all out in the fields. It just looks nice.
As for tonight? There is a James Bond marathon movie on and for some reason it sure seems like guys understand these movies much better than girls. And I would like to know just exactly how many of these movies there are? I think they started this morning and I haven’t noticed anyone was a repeat yet.
