I’m not sure where Slick went this past week, but today when I was mowing I saw a couple of new gopher mounds. When I stopped and counted – there was 7 more! One of them still had an open hole and I was worried that Slick was going to come out again so I pushed the dirt back into it and stepped on it. This way tomorrow when I set the trap, I’ll be sure to get the perfect spot.
I also saw that some volunteer sunflowers that came back from last year. The only problem is that they were in the neighbors corn field. So tonight I went out with a small shovel and started to dig them up. Then I heard a truck and saw someone driving really really slow. I’m sure he was wondering what in the world I was doing out in the neighbors corn field at 8:30 at night. I dug up around 12 of the sunflowers then I didn’t really know where to plant them. I put them by an old wagon that is by the windmill. I think they’ll look really nice there if they grow. I didn’t spend a whole lot of time replanting them but if they sprayed the corn tomorrow – they would all die anyway. So I had to rush tonight to get them out and put into a new home.
Painting went well today. I got the south side of the granary done with red and moved to the east side. I am really thinking that I’m going to run out of paint. Tomorrow I’m going to order another 20 gallons and I hope that will be enough. That will put me to 90 gallons. But just the one side of the granary took around 3 gallons!
