My new perfume

When I was taking a break today from painting, I was thinking how things are so different from a year ago. Today I was sitting on the porch swing and watching a weather balloon go over our barn. The chickens (and peacocks) were loud and I was eating some ‘Grab and Go’ Pringles with a cold beer beside me, and remembering where I was last year. Last year I spent a lot of time in Mexico with work and really missed summer. I vowed that I would not miss this summer and I am very grateful that I have the chance to be on the farm. I went from my perfume -Peony by L’Occitane to  Off! by Johnson Company, and I couldn’t be happier. I haven’t worn perfume for awhile because the cows and chickens really don’t care and while sitting on the swing I noticed the smell of Off! I thought to myself that it smelled kind of good. Wow! Maybe I need to wear my perfume during the week more. I had the bug spray on kind of thick. The flies were so bad and I ended up spraying myself 3 times to keep them away. I’m not sure when a fly sits on you the only way to get rid of it is to hit the area as hard as you can – but that’s what I was doing in between the 2nd and 3rd coat. My legs were getting pretty red from me trying to swat the flies so I decided that maybe one more coat would keep them away. And it did.

William worked on the farrowing house today and was able to get all the crates broke down. The fields were too wet to pick rock so he kept working on the inside of the shed. The next thing to do is to cut up all the wood and pull the chain out of the gutter so we can start scooping that into the spreader. Not sure that sounds like a lot of fun, but it’s something that needs to be done.

I’m hoping that I get to Decorah early tomorrow to bring back all my cushions. I really look like one of those people on the Hoarding shows. The car is completely full with cushions and instead of seating 6 people, you can only seat 2. I also ordered new cushions today on the internet and I hope that they will fit the patio set!
