As I’m sitting here in our laundry room writing this post, I can hear the thunder rumbling outside and every once in awhile I can see it lightening. Yes, once again we’re in store for some more storms coming through. We’re supposed to be heading to our friends for their graduation party pretty soon, but I think we’ll wait until everything is pretty much over. A couple of years ag0 at Daryl’s niece’s graduation party, a pretty bad storm was passing through at the time. I thought to myself, wouldn’t that be terrible if all of a sudden you have to have all these people that are on your farm find shelter at your house? And then to top it off, go down in your basement where everything else for the day is currently being stored? I guess at the time you probably wouldn’t care , and I’m pretty much sure that they wouldn’t care either. Now I’m not sure what your basement looks like, but ours is basically a storage unit for things we don’t want to get rid of, but probably should. But just in case, you can sure guess that I’m going to be watching the 10 day outlook to see if I need to make some emergency donations to the Good Will store!
Other things happening around our farm is that we worked on the Roadhouse flooring. We have it laid and fitted, but we want to let it settle over night. I know that we can get the seam tape along with the carpet stretcher at the hardware store, so tomorrow we’ll finish up that project.
I also went to town quick this afternoon because I want to do a couple of landscaping projects in the next couple of days, and I have been checking out the local nursery for them to help me decide what we should plant. I still had a gift certificate that I got from our card club in memory of my dad when he passed away, but I didn’t know what I should buy with the certificate or where to put what I bought. Now I know that my dad has been gone now for over 5 years, but they said it wasn’t a problem to use the certificate today. Nice. My dad always liked lilac flowers and so do I, so I thought that this would be a perfect thing to buy. Then the tree that I was looking at was called a Dwarf Korean Lilac tree. Since my dad was in Korea, I thought it must be a sign and I bought it. I was going to drive the truck to pick it up, but I thought with this crazy wind I didn’t want it to get damaged on the way home. So I asked if we could put it in the car and she said that it wouldn’t be a problem at all. The only problem that we did have, was that the owners helper broke a bag of top soil inside the car. Yea, not cool. It wasn’t the best situation, but looking at the owner and how mad she was, I kept saying that it wasn’t a big deal and it’ll vacuum right up. For some reason, I’m thinking the way that the owner looked, it didn’t matter that I wasn’t acting mad or not – her helper was in trouble. I wanted to plant it this afternoon, but I’m thinking with this storm going by, that it’ll have to wait until tomorrow.
That’s the exact tree that I have planted in the front of the house. The lilacs are the most intense aroma!! You’ll love it! Can’t wait to see all of this put together!
Me too!
