Finding treasures… everywhere

I saw the funniest thing today when I was doing some errands. When I was driving, I noticed that there was a tractor and someone was out walking beside it. Now it didn’t take too long to figure out what they were doing. They were picking rock. The sun was shining today and it wasn’t too windy, so at least it was a nice day if you had to do this job. But then a couple of miles down the road I saw a van pulled in by a grove a trees that ran parallel to the highway, and I saw a lady got out. You know what she was doing? She was also picking rock, but a different kind. She had opened the back of her van and she was looking at a rock pile that a farmer had put at the end of his field. I suppose this lady wanted some for her flower garden or yard, or something. I thought to myself – it really is true that someones junk is another’s treasure. But then I had to laugh. The reason that I was driving around was because I rearranged our living room again (I know – surprise!) and I was just coming home from an antique dealer that I like. What I was looking for, was something to put on the back of our couch. I didn’t have much luck, but what I did find was an antique clothes hanger. I just loved it and it was so unique! I’ve never seen one like it before and I thought to myself – I just HAD to have it! But I could just about hear what Daryl would have said if I wanted to hang it on our wall. I would have bought it, but I couldn’t figure out where I wanted to put it because it was kind of big. OK, it was really big. But I’m sure whoever this antique dealer bought it from just laughed and couldn’t believe that anyone would have paid money for what they probably thought was junk. So I am a believer that the saying is definitely true and the next time I drive by someone loading rocks into their car – I promise I won’t laugh!
