Happy Easter!

Because it was Easter, I felt obligated to make a ham (with a bone in) this weekend. For some reason it almost seems like it’s a person’s duty to do this at Easter and I’m not sure why. Well, I made ours on Saturday and to be honest -it was really good.  I’m not sure why I don’t make them more during the year because not only does it make your house smell really good, you can use the leftovers in so many different things as the week goes by. Tonight for supper we potato soup with the ham and the leftover broth that was in the pan when it cooked. It turned out good.  And tomorrow? Sounds like ham and cheese omelets for breakfast.

Daryl has been very focused on getting his tractor painted and all fixed up before spring work. It didn’t help today that we saw a couple of our neighbors in the field. When one farmer sees a neighbor in the field – you can count on all the rest of them will be out there very soon! I think it’s a guy thing. But for his tractor, he’s got a lot done so far. Today he was working on the fenders and all I could hear was some grinding going on outside. Not sure what’s he grinding off the tractor, but he’s been happy with the painting and that’s good. I think I even heard him whistling the other day. It’s been a long time since I’ve heard him do that.

After church, we tried to take a nice family picture with everyone home and cleaned up all at once. But the dogs had other things on their minds. We tried a couple of times and the dogs thought that it was something they were missing out on, so they kept trying to get in the pictures. We did get a nice one of our family finally, and one of the boys together. Kyle doesn’t leave until around the 20th, but it doesn’t hurt to get in a couple before it gets too close.

Having some trouble today with the dogs wanting to be in the pictures

I was able to get another photo book done for William and have it ordered. I will need to make one more for the Roadhouse and a couple of scrapbooks before everything is done. I should be able to get it done. I spent a good part of my day taking pictures. But not just any pictures, a friend of ours is having their 50th anniversary coming up, and William and I went over to their house to take their anniversary picture. It was crazy windy again today, but we did get a couple that turned out really nice. We decided on one that will work really well, and it was fun to help them out.

I also checked on the greenhouse and everything is growing really good .. EXCEPT the tomatoes. Isn’t that funny! Last year we had so many and this year.. it’s not looking so good. I guess we’ll see what the next two weeks brings. Our cabbage is growing and looking really good. Too bad we don’t really like cabbage too much. Kyle wants to make this one Korean recipe with the cabbage this summer, but we’re not too excited about it. You dig a hole in the yard and then put the cabbage in it for months and let it ferment. The cabbage is called Kimchi and we had it when we were in Korea last year. We were hoping that the next time that we’d eat it is when we’d be going back to Korea, and there were no plans to do this as far as we knew. But even if he did bury some cabbage, my money is on the dogs digging it up and running through the yard with it!
