I wanted to call this one business today, and when I called I was transferred and put on hold. Now normally I would only stay on hold for a little while, run out of patience and then hang up. But for some reason today, I thought that I wasn’t going to give up, so I stayed on the line. After the first 15 to 20 minutes, I almost hung up.. but then I was thinking, they should come pretty soon shouldn’t they? Well in the course of the phone call, I vacuumed the upstairs, made some cookies, did laundry, played a couple of games of solitaire on the computer, and then chopped up and melted some chocolate — and I still never got to talk to anyone. I’m sure that they were thinking that there is no way anyone would stay on the line this long would they? But you know that when you are waiting for someone, it’s about the time that you give up and then they would have been on the other line. And I knew if I had to call back, I might be way on the bottom of the list again. But after doing all the stuff around the house and 1 & 1/2 hours later.. I gave in and hung up. I tried later and when someone answered I ask them to please not to transfer me, he said that he needed to, but wouldn’t unless he knew that someone was there to pick the phone up. He lied. I hung up after about 5 minutes. I’ll try again tomorrow morning early, one more time. I think I used up all my patience today, so I’m not planning on waiting very long or really at all tomorrow.
Today I also worked on setting up the rain barrel that I got last fall. William and I have talked about getting one for quite sometime now, and I was glad that we found this one last year. So I wanted to get it installed and I thought I might as well try working on it myself to see what I can do. There were two eaves troughs that I could use, so I decided to take the one that looked a little tough, just in case I messed it up too bad. Well, after I got a bunch of hardware off the gutters, and my pieces cut to the right length, I was shocked that it turned out pretty good. I was also shocked that I didn’t need any band aides cutting the metal. And after the rain that blew through here tonight, I went out to check the barrel and it sure seems like there is quite a bit in there. Daryl’s mom always used rain water on the farm for her flowers and when she moved into town she also set something up to catch the rain water for her flowers in town. I plan on using the water for the greenhouse and the outside flowers. Check out what I put the rain barrel on. It’s a old typewriter stand that I got at the garage sale at the Court House the other day. I should paint it, but for now it’s OK being grey. It was the perfect size and it’s made out of heavy steel, so I’m sure that it’s not going anywhere. After the wind and the rain that went through tonight, I went out to check it out and it didn’t move and is pretty full already. It’s got an overflow that you can add a hose to it if you want. I’m not sure if this is necessary, but with the rain that’s forecasted this week, I’ll find out pretty fast if I need one or not!
